Renowned for its clear waters, diverse wildlife, and excellent tiger fishing opportunities, the Komati River is one of South Africa’s hidden gems and is a premier location for freshwater fishing near the Kruger National Park.
Tiger Fishing
Tigerfish are known for their fast runs, sharp strikes, and iconic striped appearance—making them a sought-after catch for both seasoned anglers and curious first-timers. The region enjoys warm weather throughout the year, so tiger fishing is possible year-round, with the peak season running from September to May.
fishing trips
Fishing excursions are guided by local experts who know the river intimately and offer a relaxed, low-pressure outing tailored to your pace. Whether you’re after the thrill of a bite or simply looking to unwind with a rod in hand and a drink in the cooler, the experience combines nature, comfort, and quiet adventure. All gear is provided, and the boats are well-equipped for a peaceful day on the water.
The fishing base is set on a picturesque stretch of the Komati, surrounded by riverine bush and rolling views of the Lebombo Mountains. It includes braai facilities along the banks of the Komati River at the confluence of the Crocodile River. Guests can enjoy shady spots to rest, scenic banks to cast from, and often spot birds, hippos, and other wildlife along the way.
Catch and release practices are followed to support sustainable angling and preserve this special ecosystem for future generations.
